This is a great place to meet and chat with friendly locals and also a chance to encounter a totally new and memorable experience.
Klong Toey market is Bangkok’s largest and most authentic fresh market. Like the city itself, this place never sleeps. Merchants and restaurateurs usually come around 1 am. in the morning to buy goods for their shops, but the market stays open all day for people who want to get their daily cooking supply. Shoppers can find almost anything here, from snacks, sweets, fruits, vegetables, seafood, and raw meat to live ducks and chickens. In the zone dedicated to the Northeastern recipes, you will see some more exotic food like frogs, insects, ant eggs, and fermented fish.
Live animals such as eels and turtles are also available. People buy them and take them some places, usually near a temple, to set them free. This is part of a ritual that buddhist Thais do after they make merit.
To some travellers, the strong smells of Durian and seafood make up an exciting experience for their senses.
