Explore the city through its wide variety of food in places frequented by locals. Bangkok’s food scene is not limited to street food and Chinatown, you will discover it is much more than that.
Our guide will pick you up at the hotel before 9:00am for your private food tour in Bangkok. Meeting time depends on the location of your hotel, we will inform exact time in the booking confirmation.
Get your stomach ready for plenty of food during the day. We go to Thonburi district to wander through a food market on the road side and sample some of the most popular Thai snacks – barbecued pork (Satay), and Thai crispy pancakes with various fillings (Khanom Buang). We flock to one of the most popular noodle shops to enjoy tasty noodle soups, roasted meatballs, and that all-time famous Thai iced black coffee (Oliang). Then its time to take a short break from eating and be impressed by wonderful architecture during our visit to the temple of dawn (Wat Arun), one of the famous landmarks of Bangkok along the Chao Phraya river.
We take to you a busy business district where you get to try everyday Thai dishes in an eatery with home cooked food, such as chicken with holy basil (Pad Kra Pao Kai) or red curry paste (Pad Prik Kaeng Kai), and of course spicy soup with prawns (Tom Yam Kung). On the way back we can get hold of some yummy pandan flavoured cakes for a sweet dessert.
For a more luxury eating experience, we go to one of the family operated restaurants with some of the best fried noodles (Pad Thai) in town. Here you can try their crispy “Golden Bags” with the world renowned spicy papaya salad (Som tum), and top that up with some fresh coconut juice.
If you still have space for more food, we will taste some delicious fried bananas. And last but not least, its time to relax with a nice cold drink on the river side to relax.
Disclaimer: We promise a good time where you can sample some great food together with our tour guide, it is a fun way to get to know the city. Our guide can give you a good introduction about the Thai culture and food. It is not an in-depth tour about cooking and ingredients, for that a cooking lesson with a good chef would be a better choice.
Note: Some shops close on certain days of the week. In that case, you will get to try something different (but equally tasty) from what’s mentioned above. As several places close during the weekend, we offer this tour only on weekdays. For a weekend tour, please have a look at our Railway and Floating markets (no lunch) or the Floating markets and Bangkok (with lunch) as those tours also include several snacks.
Transportation: you will explore Bangkok in the fun way by various forms of local transport such as tuktuk, water taxi, and sky train. You will eat and explore like a local, the best way to get to know Bangkok. If more comfort is needed, or if you like to do this tour with small children, then please get in touch via the ask a question form, we can offer the tour with luxury minivan upon request.
